Attachment Focused Therapy

Attachment therapy looks at the way we build relationships as adults and links it back to patterns in early childhood. If you struggle to rely on others, ask for your needs to be met, identify needs, or feel close to anyone at all then attachment work might be beneficial. I work with clients on building insight into their attachment styles. We work to identify patterns and causes of behaviors which create difficulty in getting needs met in relationships. Attachment disorders are often the root of addiction, anxiety, and various other mood disorders. I utilize various behavioral modalities, trauma interventions, and mindfulness techniques to help you manage anxiety, depression, and and build more meaningful and authentic relationships.

Other Expertise

I use a multimodal approach to therapy. This means sessions do not follow a prescribed structure seen in some modalities. I do have expertise in the following modalities and they will heavily guide interventions and approach.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is primarily used to treat mood and anxiety disorders. CBT allows us to link the relationship between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. CBT works on identifying thinking patterns which are maladaptive and cause us to relate and respond to the world in ways which perpetuate our pain

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of reality acceptance. It encourages us to be fully present in our lives without trying to change or avoid the parts which are uncomfortable. Mindfulness requires a connection to our bodies where our pain lives as a way to regulate our own nervous systems to survive triggers/discomfort.

DBT

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is primarily used to treat mood and personality disorders. DBT, like CBT, focuses on behavioral activation through skills to make us more effective. DBT combines behavioral therapy with mindfulness techniques to identify contexts and emotions which disrupt our behaviors and add skills to increase more adaptive behaviors and emotions

About

My name is Lauren Ramos

I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Georgia. I have experience practicing in various settings from residential treatment, outpatient programs, and private practice. I use attachment theory, DBT informed, CBT, and mindfulness modalities in therapy. I enjoy helping my clients connect to the deeper work of addressing the symptoms which bring them to therapy. I have a laid back approach, challenge for both of us to be as authentic in session, and rely on humor to help sitting in the painful parts more bearable. I hope to create a shared space that's cozy enough to make something vulnerable feel familiar. I am always honored to be a part of your journey for however long that may be.
